This collection consists primarily of black and white photographic prints of Archdiocesan clergy, parishes, and schools, along with outside organizations and events. The majority of photographs are from the twentieth century. There are also negatives, glass plate negatives, slides, and rolled panoramic prints.

Archbishop William H. Elder was born in Baltimore, Maryland, on March 22, 1819 and received his seminary training at Mt. St. Mary in Emmitsburg. He was ordained in Rome in 1846. After 11 years as a professor of dogmatic theology at Mount St. Mary, he was named bishop of Natchez (Mississippi) in 1857. Henry K. Moeller was born in Cincinnati on Dec. 11, 1849 - the first native son to lead the Archdiocese. He was the eldest child of Bernard and Teresa (nee Witte) Moeller, who were immigrants from Westphalia. Moeller had six younger siblings, one of whom became a nun and two brothers who also became priests. He attended St. Joseph School in the West End and St. Xavier College. Cornelius Xavier Donald MacLeod was born in New York city on November 17, 1821, the son of Rev. Alexander McLeod (1774-1833), a Presbyterian clergyman, and Mary Ann Agnew (1778-1841). His father, Alexander MacLeod, immigrated from Scotland in 1792. Donald was one of eleven children, only four of whom survived into adulthood.
